11:37 pm - notables from last night
1) obtained new art by a local artist - small painting of a fairy sitting in the palm of someone's hand. Interesting medium; some sort of concoction of layers of painted tissue paper on wood. Fits perfectly on my kitchen column.

2) saw Clerks II. LOVED. IT. Now I want to see the original again, which I never appreciated much before. Possibly because I'd never heard of it until seeing bits and pieces of it on in the background at parties with people who had all seen it 93,428 times already. Or, equally possible, because I just didn't have the right frame of reference for it when I was in my early 20's. (It's kind of weird thinking that Dante and Randall are. You know. MY AGE EXACTLY.)

3) quote of the night, after Leigh declared that if she and Indro and I went to Vegas, nobody would be leaving until SOMEBODY either got a tattoo or got married... Indro: "Hell, I'll marry Jim if that's what it takes!" Me: "I insist upon a pre-nup." Indro: "Dude, I'm about to be a doctor." Me: "Never mind."

Despite enjoying it immensely at the time, A. called me up on Saturday depressed because Clerks II hit a little too close to home for him.

But the movie was supposed to be inspirational... Sort of.

Heh. Well, it definitely didn't depress me. Other than Dante finding True Love 4 Life (tm), which I haven't yet managed, I'm doing WAAAAYYYY better than him and Randall, so, y'know, s'all good.

Still weird thinking that they were my age in the original and in the sequel both, though. Partly I guess it's just that so few Hollywood movies cast actors at a specific (and consistent) age, so I'm not used to it?
