10:46 pm - wanton_bliss, can I get some backup here? What the fuck man. It's definitely been trending downward for a while now, but tonight I think Battlestar Galactica has officially jumped the shark.
Seriously, if I hear one more bar of bad generic piano music I'm gonna delete the fucking season pass out of my Tivo. Bah.
Meh... It's another flawed episode serving little purpose except to set up the next one. I agree that BSG has been trending downward for quite some time (honestly, the second half of the first season when episodes lost the capacity to stand alone while adding to the larger story arc and instead became simply the next bit of twists in a serialized soap opera). But I didn't perceive any particular "jump the shark" moment to this one.
I actually listened to the podcast this morning and the producer admitted this particular episode was a cluster fuck. He ended up juggling the order of a bunch of scenes in post production, including laying new dialog over existing scenes, in an attempt to salvage a script that just did not work. With all his caveats and apologies for the narrative structure (or lack thereof), one can only hope whoever was responsible for writing it will no longer be on staff.
