07:03 pm - oh no, your week isn't over YET
After waiting 40 fucking minutes for a spot at the sushi bar, I catch the idiot hostess seating parties of two ahead of me as parties of two leave. After yelling at her and leaving, I realize that 40 minutes ALSO makes it after 7PM, meaning I can't buy liquor anymore, which I am out of. All of my friends are either out of town visiting family or out of town on business or working tonight.

Seriously, what the fucking hell. Do I REALLY have to wait two more days for this week to be OVER?!

What sort of ungodly place do you live where alcohol isn't served past 7pm?!

Fuck that shit! We can still buy until at least 11pm here if I remember right. Probably later as I typically don't buy in the middle of the night. But still!

Please tell me you bitch slapped the hostess...

Alcohol is SERVED 24 hours a day, except on Sunday (unless you have a Sunday liquor license). It isn't SOLD IN BOTTLES after 7PM. Which is pretty common in a lot of states.

You can buy beer and wine though, right?

Yes. Except Sundays. You can't buy beer or wine on Sundays, period, though you can have it served to you at establishments with Sunday liquor licenses.

Where you at? Michigan? I remember buying booze there after midnight at some grocery stores. It probably varies by municipality though, much like anything else.

The state laws here state hard liquor until 9pm, beer until midnight. The city laws here state 9pm for everything. Bars can serve until 2:30 state-wide, but 2am in this city.

wait, what?

You can't buy liquor after 7:00 pm?

Doesn't that just encourage people to go to bars and drunk drive?

of course

In WA, in fact, until a few years ago ONLY RESTAURANTS could serve liquor.

Re: of course

I visited Seattle in the early nineties and thought it was very charming that all the bars served food.

Re: of course

Hey, the food wasn't half bad most of the time. It was convenient for people like me who get those drunken hungries.

But, you couldn't buy liquor in the store to take home after a certain hour? Cause that is something else again. Something NOT GOOD.

There are bars here that close at 6:00 AM and they'll sell you cases of beer on your way out the door. Our depanneurs sell beer and wine 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Hard liquor - that's another story, it's sold at government operated stores only and they have sucky hours and they're closed on Sunday.

Your week was shitty wasn't it ?
