07:23 pm - Americans don't hold a monopoly on yokelish ignorance
Seriously, if I see another ignorant lout of a UK-er talking in awed tones about the "gun problem in America" and being quietly thankful for his or her own good fortune at living in a nice safe gun-free society, I think I'm going to have a fucking hemmorhage.

I don't get that...

do you mean the USA doesn't have a gun problem (IMO not true)

or that the British are foolish for believing that they don't face a gun problem as pressing as that of the USA (IMO not true)

or just that it's snobbish AND crass for them to be so pious about the whole thing?

(yes, i'm reading your blog again!)

The second option.

Between articles like the one I linked talking about the UK gun culture and associated firearm violence problems, and that neverending Protestant / Catholic ratfuck in Ireland, I really think it's ridiculous for UK'ers - most of whom have never witnessed a shooting murder in their lives - to point at Americans - most of whom have never witnessed a shooting murder in their lives - and yammer on sanctimoniously about how awful it must be to handle the "conditions" here.
